This morning I read again about the golden calf, etc., and saw something I hadn't noticed before. Aaron was a leader, God's spokesman. He LED THE PEOPLE into sin and at least 3,000 died because of it. But God forgave him! He didn't forgive him and set him and his family at the fringe of the camp as punishment, but reinstated him fully, even made him high priest! And Psalm 106:16 calls him "the saint of the Lord." Not only is this meaningful as another example of God's forgiveness, but it means everything to me. I have taught so much error and have been struggling with how God can forgive me for all of that. Now I see His loving grace more clearly and have an assurance of forgiveness and of His willingness to use me in spite of my past. Hallelujah!
